Hi, I'm Odunayo Akinlade, a First-Class graduate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Ibadan. From a young age, I've been driven by a deep curiosity and a passion for finding more efficient ways to navigate day-to-day challenges. This curiosity led me to pursue engineering, where I initially aimed to invent solutions that would simplify life for others.
During the lockdown, I discovered UI/UX design, and it opened up a new world of possibilities for me. I realized that I could have an even greater impact by channelling my creativity into designing user-centred digital experiences. Now, with three years of experience as a user-centric product designer, I blend my engineering background with design thinking to craft solutions that are not only functional but also meaningful to users worldwide. What excites me most about product design is the opportunity to express my creativity while solving complex problems for a global audience.
My mission is to bridge the gap between technology and people by making tech more accessible, inclusive, and impactful for users of all backgrounds. I'm particularly passionate about leveraging technology to improve the lives of underserved communities in Africa and beyond.
Beyond design, I'm deeply passionate about gender diversity in technology. I lead initiatives focused on empowering women in tech and bridging the gender gap in the industry. My role as a Google Women Techmakers Ambassador further fuels my commitment. Through my work, I aim to inspire and uplift the next generation of female leaders in technology.
